High-Temperature High-Pressure Maintenance-Free Rotary Compensator

Built for Steam. Engineered for Zero-Downtime.

In high-temperature steam and thermal distribution networks, pipe expansion is not a minor inconvenience—it is a continuous mechanical stress that wears down conventional compensators, erodes sealing integrity, and forces costly shutdowns. Our high-temperature high-pressure rotary compensator is designed around a simple principle: let the pipe rotate, not wear out the seal.

Why This Compensator Performs Where Others Fall Short

Forged Bodies, Not Welded Assemblies
Every pressure-retaining component—from the rotary barrel to the sealing seat—is machined from integral forged or pressed blanks. There are no longitudinal welds in the pressure boundary. This means higher resistance to water hammer, pressure surges, and the cyclic thermal shock that eventually cracks welded structures. -4

Self-Sealing Packing That Tightens as Temperature Rises
The sealing material is not off-the-shelf graphite rope. It is a proprietary composite incorporating alloy particles, carbon fiber, and antioxidants, processed to exhibit a higher thermal expansion coefficient than conventional packings. In steam service, where operating temperature exceeds assembly temperature, the packing expands against the sealing surfaces—the hotter the line runs, the tighter the seal becomes. Standard rating: up to 650°C; higher ratings available on request.

Spring-Loaded Compensation for Wear—Without Manual Intervention
Behind the packing, a spring-loaded gland assembly maintains constant sealing pressure. As the packing wears through thousands of rotation cycles, the spring advances the gland automatically. This is the mechanism behind the “maintenance-free” designation: the compensator compensates for its own wear.

Emergency Leak-Sealing Device (Pressure-Tight While Running)
Even with self-sealing packing, unplanned conditions can occur. Each unit is equipped with a pressure leak-sealing device that allows packing replenishment without isolating or depressurizing the pipeline. If a weep is detected during routine inspection, the issue can be resolved in-situ—no emergency shutdown, no lost steam, no production interruption.

Precision Centering for Rotation Without Binding
Low-friction centering bearings maintain concentricity between the rotating barrel and the sealing seat. This prevents the eccentric loading that accelerates packing wear and causes leakage in poorly guided compensators. The result: smooth rotation, predictable torque, and extended seal life.

Installation & Application

These compensators are installed in pairs or groups on thermal pipelines to form a rotation-based expansion system. Correct installation requires attention to coaxial alignment and adherence to the positioning layout provided with each unit. Because the compensator absorbs movement through rotation rather than axial compression, it accommodates larger displacements than conventional slip joints within a comparable installation footprint.

Typical applications: Main steam lines, reheat steam piping, high-temperature hot water networks, and thermal distribution systems in power generation, petrochemical, and district heating plants.

Custom Engineering, Not Catalog Selection

Every compensator we supply is designed against your pipeline data: material grade, design pressure and temperature, medium, flow rate, and the expansion displacement to be absorbed. Wall thickness, packing composition, and flange/butt-weld configuration are determined by the actual duty—not by a generic product family.

Send us your pipeline parameters for a dimensional drawing and quotation. Include: nominal diameter, design pressure, design temperature, medium, and connection type (flanged or welded).
